Epic Choke Job by the Bruins Tonight...

By Jim Chandley

The Bruins took a 2-0 lead into the third period tonight against the LA Kings.

Matt Hunwick and Mark Recchi scored in the first and second respectively to give the Bruins their advantage.

Michal Handzus scored on the powerplay midway through the third to make it 2-1.  Drew Doughty scored on a rebound with under two minutes left to tie the game at two.

LA’s captain Dustin Brown scored with only 30 seconds remaining in overtime.  The Bruins showed no signs of life in the third, squandering two powerplays and allowing two unanswered goals.

The Bruins will skate at home Sunday against the New Jersey Devils.  With the Devils five points out (and having one more game to play than Boston), Sunday’s meeting is a big one.
