The B’s lost 4-3 in Tampa this evening despite a good effort.  The game was tied after 1 when Andrew Ference scored on the powerplay at 16:52.

The Bruins managed to tie it up again in before the second intermission  when Chara scored late in the second from Kobasew and Ward.

As the two teams locked horns in the third, the Bruins seemed to be headed towards another overtime game and perhaps a shootout.  But at 17:10 in the 3rd, Ference put the puck over the glass for a delay of game penalty.

On the ensuing powerplay, Vaclav Prospal buried the goal that would become the game winner.  The Bruins went on to lose 4-3.

The Bruins will be back at home on Tuesday to host the Florida Panthers.  They will look to avenge Saturday’s loss in Florida.

Overmathced Hurricanes Were Just What the Doctor Ordered

The Bruins go into Carolina and end their 4-game losing skid.

Boston beats Carolina 5-1.  Goals came in bunches in the 3rd as the period started 2-1 Bruins.  Tim Thomas turned away 31 Hurricane shots as the Bruins fought hard in front of him for most of the game.

After a gutty 50 minutes, the flood gates opened for Boston.  David Krejci scored from Patrice Bergeron shorthanded at 16:12 in the 3rd.  Exactly a minute later, Zdeno Chara’s slap shot from the point on the power play was tipped in by Chuck Kobasew.  As time wound down, Patrice Bergeron stole the puck in the neutral zone and blew threw the Hurricanes to put in an empty net goal to finish the scoring.

The B’s will now spend 3 consecutive off days in Florida in preparation for their next game against the Panthers on Sunday.
